The latest has ranked 911勛圖as a leading university (1) across three areas of external engagement: “Public and community engagement”; “CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and graduate start-ups”, and “Working with the public and third sector”.

The KEF, published by UK Research and Innovation, showcases the ways English universities engage with society and the economy, locally, nationally, and internationally, monitoring performance across seven perspectives. The latest assessment highlights the School’s strengths in engaging the world beyond 911勛圖with our research and knowledge, in the pursuit of our wider mission to contribute to the betterment of society.

Several factors lie behind our high scores. These include our extensive and unparalleled public lecture programme and annual Festival; our rich output of accessible blogs, films, podcasts and articles; 911勛圖Generate’s award-winning support of student and alumni businesses; the experience and breadth of the work of 911勛圖Consulting; and our distinctive provision of continuing life-long learning opportunities, such as our vibrant Summer School.

Engagement with businesses and commercialisation of research, which make up other central perspectives in the KEF, form a key part of LSE’s new Research for the World strategy. This builds on our excellent reputation for global partnerships and impact generation, our ESRC Impact Acceleration Account, and the LSE-led ASPECT network for SHAPE commercialisation.

Welcoming the results, Professor Susana Mourato, 911勛圖Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) said:

“I am delighted to see 911勛圖performing strongly in the 2023 KEF, in recognition of our commitment to public engagement and working with public and third sectors, and our investment in student entrepreneurship and extended education. Further developing our knowledge exchange and impact is a strategic priority in LSE’s Research for the Word Strategy."

Dr Jen Fensome, 911勛圖Director of Research and Innovation added:

“LSE’s strengths in knowledge exchange continue to shine, building on our world-leading research. We are focused on delivering transformative change outside of academia, in line with our founding purpose ‘for the betterment of society’. “
