Project Title
The way we work now: the impact of new office practices in reshaping worker subjectivity.
Research Topic
Diarmuid’s research examines the role of new office practices, typically those associated with tech and creative industries, in shaping the subjectivity of workers.
Critical of the progressive assumptions surrounding the ‘new office’, this research focuses upon the diffuse techniques of power which confront employees under the attractive guise of autonomy, perks and flexibility. At the root of this work is a concern with the workspace as a frame through which the worker is increasingly subject to the demands of capital.
