What is the Welcome Presentation? Your Welcome Presentation is your opportunity to learn about what it means to be part of the 911³Ô¹Ïcommunity and our opportunity to welcome you to it. Your Welcome Presentation will offer you an introduction to 911³Ô¹Ïfrom key members of staff. It will include information about the many opportunities and support available to you while you study. It is where you’ll find out what you can expect during your time here, how we can help you to succeed in your studies, learn about our values, and discover how we can support your wellbeing.

It is very important that you attend campus enrolment. This is compulsory for you to attend. This takes place in-person and is where we will check your official documents, including passport and visa.
Once you have completed campus enrolment, you will be issued your 911³Ô¹ÏCard, giving you access to campus and on-campus teaching and services.

Complete your Consent.Ed training!
Our Consent.Ed programme gives you the tools you need to become an active bystander and make positive decisions about your relationships.
It is expected that you and everyone in the 911³Ô¹Ïcommunity takes part in Consent.Ed. Level 1 and Level 2 should be completed by all students.
You will need to:

- Complete Level 2: an in-person workshop that every BSc student in the Department of Statistics must attend. See below.

Level 2 sessions will form part of your departmental induction. This will be a 90-minute workshop attended alongside your department peers. In this session you will explore issues around sexual consent, providing an opportunity to discuss how we can look for one another and create a positive, respectful consent culture, where everyone feels safe on campus.
An opportunity to hear from your Programme Director about your programme, the department and school process and procedures, plus an excellent chance to meet your fellow students and make friends through ice breaker sessions! The day will be fully catered with breakfast and lunch and a chance to claim a few freebies. This is compulsory for you to attend.

Joining 911³Ô¹Ïcan be a unique but challenging time. In addition to the new surroundings, students are also often faced with academic challenges. Nobody knows better how to navigate these new challenges than those who have been through them.
The Student Academic Mentor (SAM) programme is an undergraduate-only student-to-student mentoring model, designed by students, for students. 911³Ô¹ÏLIFE and our departments have worked together to ensure that all our first-year students are assigned a SAM.
This event will be a relaxed opportunity for new first-year students to learn more about the scheme, alongside meeting others in our department, and giving them the opportunity to chat to a SAM.

This event will be particularly useful if you: want to make the most of all careers services available to you and would like to get advice or to ask questions about careers.

is offering a (free!) Linux mini-course. The event will have a one hour talk, 10 mins break, 1h talk, 20 mins Q&A format and will cover the following:
Title: Getting Started with Linux
Abstract: The now 34-year-old Linux operating system designed from ground up to respect users' freedom provides an easy-to-use, off-the-shelf alternative to proprietary solutions (such as Windows and macOS) while also allowing a versatile, sustainable, secure, and privacy-respecting operation for instance on desktops PCs / laptops, in home automation, on mobiles, on paper-like tablets, or in the context of research computing on a cluster. The aim of this mini-course is to help you get started along this journey. After a short historical background, we will touch upon choosing among Linux variants (so-called distributions), hints on installation, applications for common tasks, and ricing.
You are welcome to join upon interest, note that sign up will be required. Details will be provided.

This is a talk by Programme Director(s) to welcome back second-year BSc students and with some important advice and information about their second-year of studies, and Q&A by students. This session is led by Christine Yuen and Gelly Mitrodima.

This is the "recent graduate panel talk" by recent graduates to share tips on how to succeed in 911³Ô¹Ïstudy, job and MSc applications while enjoying their learning experience at 911³Ô¹Ïfrom 5-6.30pm and then there is a networking with recent graduates from 6.30pm - 8pm. This session is led by Pik Liew.
